Xero Shoes’ latest Oxford-style dress shoe is an effortless option for the office and going out: it’s lightweight and possesses a wider toe box than most in this category. The full-grain buffalo leather is soft to the touch upon unboxing.
Note: the Alston does not fit Correct Toes without modification. With the pinky toe spacer cut in half and the shoe liner removed, our wear tester found Correct Toes to fit comfortably within the shoe. The Alston may work for some for that reason.
With some minor stylistic changes to the classic chukka shape, the Lems Chukka proves function and fashion can co-exist. The pairing between a smooth suede upper and injection-blown rubber (IBR) outsole work in concert to create a lightweight, moderately flexible, and sophisticated boot that is well-suited for a variety of occasions.
Please note: while the Chukka is widest at the toes, a full set of Correct Toes is tricky and tight to wear with the shoe liner. Because of this, we would recommend removing the liner to accommodate Correct Toes and for proper toe splay.
The Sunbrella® Bare Ankle is a causal lace-up boot that is flexible for your feet and for life’s activities. The resistant Sunbrella® upper is lightweight and breathable, while the vegan suede lining keeps feet warm. The 4mm all-weather outsole allows you to transition seamlessly between seasons.
This vegan-friendly shoe uses a breathable mesh upper made entirely from recycled materials. The sole is very flexible, allowing your feet to feel the ground and adapt accordingly. The slip-resistant outsole offers some padding but is not overly cushioned.

The upper is made from Washi, a Japanese-made material comprised of 75% paper and 25% polyester. As a result of Washi’s unique composition, the upper is extremely lightweight and quick drying. The signature Wildling outsole has a 4.5mm stack height. A removable insole provides extra padding if needed; for Individuals with high volume feet, removing the liner may be necessary for extra space.
The Aurora features Wilding’s signature 3mm outsole made from recycled rubber and cork. The design of their unique outsole was inspired by Japanese jika-tabi boots, offering flexibility and natural movement. The upper is made from double-knit twill, and the shoe is lined with milled wool, so feet stay warm and dry.

The Boaty has a vegan-friendly canvas upper and a 5.5mm outsole. The 2mm removable insole is moisture wicking so the shoe can be worn with or without socks. The heel strap and a little padding in the heel prevents slipping while walking.

The release of the Daylite Hiker EV (short for “evolution”) comes as Xero Shoe’s response to their original hiking boot. Upgraded features include a more durable mesh upper, “grippy” chevron tread and useful lacing hooks. Wearing modified Correct Toes in this shoe may work for some.
NOTE: This shoe appeared to run small. Consider sizing up one full size.

In the Fli-Lyte 3, almost all printed overlays were elminated to make it lighter and more breathable using a new engineered mesh upper to secure the foot over the platform. The addition of a 5mm anti-microbial Ortholite® footbed gives the shoe a softer ride without sacrificing midsole response. A 23mm X 20mm stack height offers cushioning without losing flexibility and ground feel for a more natural running experience.

The Fli-Lyte 2 offers a soft, highly responsive and flexible ride, suitable for a variety of distances and speeds. An updated upper mesh offers additional structure and durability without sacrificing weight or breathability. The new platform is slightly softer and more flexible than our original, delivering a more natural feel.

This shoe utilizes Altra’s Max-LT™ midsole and intermittently spaced rubber outsole, which helps keep the shoe lightweight. The 23mm stack height offers cushioning for those who want it but is still quite flexible. Two vents in the sole were included for breathability but will let water in on damp days. The Kayenta has a unique 2-layer upper, combining a neoprene lining and quick-dry mesh outer layer.

The Runventure 2’s 19mm, high traction outsole provides good grip on the trails, and an optional gaiter attachment helps block out dust and debris. It’s designed with a breathable mesh upper, flexible elastane heel counter and a neutral heel-to-toe drop.

The upper’s eVent® waterproof membrane performed well in wet conditions, and the lug rubber outsole provided good traction on the trails. With a stiff sole and 3mm heel-to-toe drop, we recommend this shoe for individuals beginning their transition to natural footwear.
Note: This shoe runs small and we suggest sizing up one size.

The Magna Trail utilizes Vivo’s Firm Ground outsole, with low profile lugs that offer good traction on a variety of surfaces. The water repellant nylon upper and neoprene ankle sock keep feet dry and debris out of the shoe. This all-season hiking shoe has removable thermal insole for an added layer of warmth in the colder months.

Featuring a high-quality leather upper and waterproof lining, this boot performed well in rainy and snowy conditions. The Tracker’s flexible sole allows your feet to move naturally and the thermal insole keeps them warm in cold weather.
Note: this boot runs small, so we suggest going up one size.

The TerraFlex performs well for trail running and hiking. The men’s version of this shoe is Correct Toes compatible for some but probably won’t work for individuals with a wide foot. We suggest removing the liner to allow for more room inside the shoe. The mesh upper and Tough Trek toe cap offers breathability and protection. The TerraFlex’s chevron tread gives good grip on the trails, while the sole encourages natural movement and ground feel.

This modern and lightly technical option emphasizes natural foot-friendly features: it is highly flexible and zero-drop with no heel elevation and minimal toe spring. The cozy flannel liner was perfect at providing warmth and still permitted motion control in the feet. While not narrow, a wider fit at the toes would allow for optimal toe splay. Modified Correct Toes can be worn with the Denver.
When it comes to functional shoes with fashionable elements, the Be Lenka Winter shoe does its job well. A water-resistant leather outer is met with a cushy, merino wool liner to keep the feet dry and comfortable. The flexibility of the sole is outstanding, given that this feature can be rare in protective winter shoes with generally stiff soles.
While this shoe model is widest at the toes, our reviewer could only accommodate a modified pair of Correct Toes. This was due to the shoe liner taking up some of the volume within the shoe. Otherwise, we fully recommend the Be Lenka Winter shoe as a cold weather option!
The Leguano Chester is a relatively light, extremely flexible, and very thin boot. With a liner made of high quality virgin wool, this is a perfect option for dry and chilly days. One thing to note: While wearing an unmodified pair of Correct Toes, the tester, who has a narrow-to-average sized foot, noted some snugness. People with a very wide foot (in particular at the toes) should take be aware and size accordingly. Even though it did not create discomfort, we recommend people only wear a modified pair of Correct Toes with this shoe to ensure there is enough space for the toes to splay naturally.
The Mohawk is an 8-inch tall, full-grain leather derby boot that boasts an extremely flexible, zero drop, 5-millimeter sole. The gusseted tongue is designed to keep debris out, and the all-natural coconut rubber on the outsole is purported to be highly durable. Our wear tester noted some tightness while wearing a full set of Correct Toes during testing. Over the course of several weeks, the full grain leather upper did stretch and form to his foot. The stretch made it more comfortable to wear a full set of Correct Toes, but he still preferred, and we recommend, wearing a modified pair of Correct Toes without the pinky toe spacer. While we feel there is an opportunity for improvement in the shape at the toes, the Mohawk is a solid natural foot health option for those in search of a stylish, premium quality leather boot.

The upper is made with full grain leather and finished with a water repellant coating. The 24 mm stack height and firm EVA outsole result in a very stiff sole.
